Tax Data: Sci-Tech Innovation Runs Strong in First Two Months in China

Strong growth appeared in scientific and technological innovation in the first two months in China, as released by data from the State Taxation Administration, with many highlights.

Innovation-driven industries advanced faster as the sales revenue of high-tech industries gained more sales revenue by 16.1% through January and February against the same period of the previous year. Specifically, sales revenue of high-tech services increased by 17.2% year-on-year, with 25.6% and 17.4% surging in sci-tech intermediary services and natural science research and experimental development, respectively. High-tech manufacturing grew by 14.5%. Aircraft and spacecraft equipment manufacturing and the electronic and communication equipment production jumped by 28.5% and 18.4% year- on-year.

Another rapid growth appeared in sci-tech resources  transactions, according to the invoice data. Sci-tech research and technical services, a key evidence showing integration and value transformation of technologies, in China, expanded by 23.6% year-on-year in the first two months. Intellectual property (patent)-intensive industries with high technological content has raised  its sales revenue by 12.8% year on year.

Digital and real economies are integrated in an accelerated race. Enterprises have spent more 10.8% in January–February in purchasing  digital technologies against the same period of the previous year, reflecting continuant upgrading of industrial digitalization. Amid them, manufacturing enterprises increased their procurement of digital technologies by 16%. The key digital economy industries raise their sales revenue by 10.8%, indicating the fast advancement of digital industrialization, while the manufacturing of digital products and the application of digital technologies grew more than 13.3% and 11.9%, respectively.
